FishNsteaks.com uses only the freshest farm raised Tilapia fillets available on the market. There are two types of Tilapia available for consumption. Farm-raised and wild caught fish. To maintain a consistency of both product and availability of this increasing popular fish, we purchase only the highest quality farm raised Tilapia. The Tilapia comes to us already skinned and filleted and is ready to prepare using your favorite recipe.

Tilapia fillets are white in color with a mild to bland taste that goes great with sauces. Tilapia is often substituted for Flounder when the later is not available with very little noticeable difference. Many of our restaurant clients tell us that a great number of their customers prefer Tilapia to Flounder.

Tilapia Fillets Recipes

Tilapia Lemon Parmesan

Ingredients:
  • 2-1/2 lbs. Tilapia fillets
  • 2-4 tsp. butter or margarine, softened
  • 2 tsp. fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbl. fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 lemons, sliced fresh parsley
Rinse the tilapia fillets in cold water and drain thoroughly. Top with butter or margarine and lemon juice. Broil about 4 inches from the source of heat for approximately 5 to 6 minutes or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily when tested with a fork.

For sauce, combine mayonnaise, fresh lemon juice, and Parmesan cheese. Mix well and set aside.

Top each portion with 1-2 tbl. of Lemon-Parmesan Sauce; broil 2-3 minutes or until sauce puffs and turns golden brown. Place fillets on serving plate; garnish with lemon slices and fresh parsley.

Beer Battered Tilapia

Ingredients:
  • 4-6 Tilapia fillets
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • 2 Tbls. chopped parsley
  • 2 Tbls. cooking oil
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper
  • Oil for deep frying
  • BEER BATTER
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • ½ cup beer
  • ½ cup flour
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp baking powder
Cut fillets into 2" pieces. Put in a bowl with lemon juice, parsley, 2 Tbls. cooking oil, and salt and pepper to taste. Heat oil for deep frying. Dip pieces of fish individually into batter, and then into hot oil. Cook, turning and submerging pieces in the oil until golden brown all over. Drain on paper towels.

Spicy Grilled Tilapia with Aioli

Ingredients:
  • 2 lbs. tilapia fillets
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • 2 T. chili powder
Spray grill rack with non-stick coating. Rinse tilapia with cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Combine spices and sprinkle on both sides of fillets. Place on heated grill 4 to 5 inches from hot fire. (Can also broil in oven ). Cook 4-5 minutes per 1/2 inch measured at thickest point. Turn once halfway through cooking time. Serve with Aioli.

Aioli
1 1/2 cup mayonnaise
6 garlic cloves, pressed
1 1/2T. lemon juice
1 1/2 T. Dijon mustard
3/4 tsp. dried tarragon
Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Refrigerate.
